Love can be very hard to define. Often we mistake it for our own neediness or putting our identity in another person. The goal would be to be happy whether you are with them or not with them. Relationships can trigger all kinds of things once the honeymoon period is over. That can make it very difficult but it also makes for a good opportunity to work on those issues. Therapy, couples counseling, books on it. Two people can learn how to meet each others needs in a healthy way and heal.
