Hi Juliana,

Long time since we chatted. I hope you are doing well! I'm not on the Board that much anymore, mainly because of my daughter. Now that she's able to stay in the "sitting-up-and-staying-awake" position for longer periods of time, she HOGS the computer. LOL.

Yes, I heard about the Mumps outbreak at Dal. Probably the worse things these young adults have ever been through yet. Just wait until the women go through childbirth! Lol. Owie.

I had Mumps back in Grade 5. I was so disappointed because it was Walk-A-Thon Day, and we live two houses down from the school. I could see all my friends having fun and getting ready to start the trek. I wanted to go. Jeepers, I only had a couple swollen glands under in my neck and I wasn't sick at all. THEN....da da da DOOM.......you find out what Mumps is all about. Those glands got so swollen and hurt so much that I could hardly turn my head, plus I was sick with fever and not one bit happy anymore. I was up-to-date on all my immunizations, but I guess the bad guy wanted me anyways. Lol. I have no idea where I got them because no one else at school or home ever got sick.

Then again, I never had Chicken Pox in my life, and my two kids both got it at the same time. My daughter was FAR worse off than my son. She had them in every possible orifice you can think of....EVERY ONE!!!! The doctor had to put her on a tranquillizer because they were so bad that they didn't itch one bit.....they HURT her so badly and she'd be screaming and crying because of the pain. My son, lucky guy that he was, recovered within just a couple days with only a little itchy one here and an itchy one there. But I was around those kids all the time, especially my daughter. I'd be sleeping with her and cuddling with her and just not even giving a hoot if I got Shingles. But you know what? I never caught anything from them! And yet I got the Mumps from some invisible culprit! Grrrr.

I must say that my two recent swollen glands are much better today. They're not really swollen anymore, and only a little sore in thaose areas....if I poke around! Lol. So I think it was probably just a stress reaction. A much better reaction than running around the apartment, screaming in panic over my daughter's difficulties right now.

Thanks for the concern. Be good to yourself!

God bless,
Sandy
