One datapoint --> you cannot draw conclusions from it. Right now, by deciding that you would leave next time it happens, you are instilling anxiety into the "waiting period". If you tell him what you think there would be less anxiety --> less chance of agitation later. These are basically physiological responses and no, they are not necessarily a bipolar thing.
