I tried adjusting my own med dosages once and ended up in the hospital. The doctor asked me, "So, how's the self-medicating working for you?"
I laughed because he was right.

Due to allergic reactions to different meds, I'm currently only taking 10 mg of Prozac and .5 mg of Xanax a couple of times a day, for panic disorder. I go back to my pdoc next week for a new bipolar med.

Prozac is known for pushing bipolars into mania. That's one reason I'm on such an incredibly low dose.

I can understand why you don't want to be on four different meds. I wouldn't want that either. But couldn't you tell your pdoc and have him suggest the two best meds and dosages that you should be taking?
