Well you can go at this in several ways

1st when they are rambling on change the topic. This usually indicates that you have move past the current topic. Kinda like so "what about those Yankees" universal for im tired of this.

2nd guessing
- be deliberate in your approach
- let them second guess you
- advise them that they need to do the task
- be confident on your opinion/result

You need to determine if the advice that they are giving can be validated or is it just an opinion

You don;t need to encourage people to change - if you want change you are the change not them . You explain yourself in a way that they understand the 1st time and confirm that they understood
