I do not know about what effects it has on REM, but I can tell you I was on it only3 weeks a few years ago and the Remeron made me so tired and emotionless, I was a zombie, so my pdoc allowed me to stop taking it, especially i was in the throws of a fatal sort of depression and the Remeron made me worse.
I guess again, all meds affect everyone differently, sometimes good and bad.
I would definately be sure to take this up with your pdoc when you go to your appt.
