Medical professionals keep things confidential. They are honestly looking out for your well being, it doens't matter what youv'e done, unless your life is in serious danger they wont do anything drastic without your permission. I've been in the hospital before when a friend went to the school ( I was 15 and 21 now) and told them I had been cutting severely and was hospitalized. You do not want this. It was the worst thing I have yet to experience. after this, you aren't allowed any of your own belongings and have to go through regular full body skin checks to check for new self harm injury's, and if you think you can get away with it, you are wrong. Words of advice... Now, as an adult I can tell you, people are not stupid. If you self harm and it is visible, it doesn't pass as an accident. When I was younger, doctors, adults, teachers, would always say something. As an adult, with the scars, people see them, but they ignore them. To an extent I'm happy that they don't say any thing, but at the same time it makes me very uncomfortable still. you cant wear long sleeves and pants forever, and when it's 100 degrees out side you dont have a lot of choice. Really, I wish I had handled myself better, the scars dont go away, no matter how much you want them too and I still struggle with self harm. By the way if you are at the doctors with a parent YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SEE A DOCTOR PRIVATELY. While a parent will have to give permission to see the doctor, you have every right to speak to your doctor privately without your mom hovering over you which is soooo much nicer.
Thanks for this!
