I think what is throwing us off is not understanding the kind of place you work, where there are options for you and they might very well be better.

Sounds as if you have a lot of seniority and options. That's awesome.
We can't really give you pro's and cons since we don't know about your workplace. But you can make a list. You've already told us some of the pro's and cons. Give it a shot. Get back with us.
BTW, advanced degrees don't necessarily equal more money. Trust me on that.
