Oh my dear, I feel for you. I have also suffered from OCD for a very long time. But don't make the mistake I did and not seek treatment. Back when mine started there wasn't a whole lot known about it (I'm a retired lady). I've heard there's medication that helps now too. Even left on it's own it does tend to improve over time, but it takes control on your part. The secret is "ignore it and it goes away." Takes practice though. This in particular affects anxious people. The rituals we practice bring about a temporary feeling of calm, but only strengthens the compulsion.

Please seek help and medication. The longer you are affected, the more likely it will continue. Don't be embarrassed like I was, there are many that suffer from this disorder. Also search for others on PC that are affected by OCD for support.

Welcome to PC and I'm sure you will find a lot of help here.
