I saw my psychiatrist today and had him tweak a little of my meds, which you can read in my signature at the bottom of this post. But this time, he took away my benzo. For the past 3 years, I've been on xanax, ativan, klonopin, valium, or some sort of benzo. I've got a couple more refills for valium and I plan on using them sparingly. I'm very scared of the idea of not having any benzos in case of emergency. I have no idea how to manage my anxiety without a benzo. They're lifesavers, and I realize I'm dependent on them, but is that such a bad thing? If they treat my anxiety successfully, then why change it? I talked to my doc about augmenting Paxil with Wellbutrin to combat the sexual side effects. He claims that valium is hurting my sexual performance too, but frankly I don't agree. So where do I go from here? Do I save my valium for emergencies? Or should I just taper down and get off them completely like my doctor wants? I'm kinda lost here.
