You have to have experienced one or more of a specific set of traumatic events in order to have PTSD. PTSD isn't given to anyone who claims to have experienced something traumatic, as things like a break up with a girlfriend or boyfriend or getting fired from a job are not "traumatic" in a PTSD sense.

Believe me when I say you don't want this disorder! (I have been diagnosed and re-diagnosed by 10+ psychiatrists, and have taken diagnostic tests, so my Dx is pretty much a lock.)

It sounds like you may have something more along the lines of generalized anxiety disorder or panic disorder, but not PTSD.
