Ripose, I wish you well and hope the AA and NA principles help. Like I said, I apply them to everything. They help my thinking and my emotions and help me behave like a far more reasonable person.

About 12 years ago, I was hit was a dreadful medical diagnosis. I was asymptomatic, but tested after several family members died suddenly. I could survive if I did a radical turnaround of everything in my life to take pressure off an organ system that didn't work right. The first symptom of this problem was usually sudden death. That's what I was facing and I felt fine. I was in a state of shock, but not denial. I decided to live.

Using AA, I did the turnaround and I've stuck with it. It required abstinence from many normal things -- foods, beverages, OTC medications (no tylenol, no aspirin, no NSAIDs). Tests show that I am now just fine. If I fall off my strict regimen, things go south really fast. So eventhough I'm not an alcoholic or drug addict, I'm living the AA program every day. It has worked for me. It can work for you, too. Not easy. But it works if you work it.

If a person has even 10% of their liver functioning, they can make it.

I wish you and your wife many more good years together.
Thanks for this!
