i agree,,, a psychiatrist is first a doctor. yet i've never had one take my blood pressure to see if i was ready to stroke out... stress is a killer, but they never do a stress assessment. that is why i try to be my own medical coordinator.
with the resources of the web, and places like PC reporting on other people's experiences, it's quite possible to write up office notes that include questions of medical relevance.
however, i would never depend upon a psychiatrist for my medical care... i personally believe most of them are incompetent, the field is awash in pitfalls, misdiagnoses and 'trial and error' mentality. let me try to bully a good ol CPA or GP anyday
