Wow. So... Why?? Or did she not say??

For what this might be worth... My therapist told me when he was just starting out he worked in a mental hospital. He said a supervisor told him not to smile at a patient there, saying that she had been so abused she would attach to anyone who showed her any kindness. He said he smiled at her anyways.
