It will take a little time to tweak the dose. It does take time for the medicine to work. I had to wait two weeks with HBP before mine took effect, and that was just a dose increase.

They like to move slowly with heart meds because they don't want you to bottom out.

Do call the doctor. They need to monitor your progress.
