I've got no advice, but I want to thank you and the other posters because I might need to switch insurance companies, so I asked my current pdoc for a referral. She gave me the name of someone who primarily sees kids, and my first thought was no, that I would just be a schedule filler. My primary care doc is like that--prefers kids and families and only tolerates single adults. And by tolerate, I mean she's impatient, egotistical and generally pissy. She gets great reviews from young moms, though. We have to want better for ourselves.

I'm really sorry you spent all that money, though. Such a strange referral. I don't get why anyone would see (or refer) patients that are not their specialty or preference.
