My xray just showed damage which is bad. Eight yrs ago my MRI showed 3 herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative discuss disease, and some other stuff like lumbar degeneration. Also, my sciatica pain is getting worse; it used to be my left rear and hip now my foot goes numb. Last week the xray showed bone spurs on my spine which means it's progressing. This is all from a car wreck in 1995!! Doctors thought I was pill seeking because old injuries rarely continue to cause damage. Now I'm having severe abdominal pain which is a major red flag. This can cause a loss of control of bowels, and I probably need surgery asap. I'm only 44 years old!

Regarding exercise - yes absolutely and laying in bed or sitting is bad. But, I gained 60 lbs on seroquel. In desperation to lose the weight I got up to walking 2 hrs a day/26 miles a week while obese. I'm pretty sure this is what caused my new problems. Extra weight is horrible for my lumbar, but I was stupid to be so extreme on exercising.
