Maybe the doc had mis-diagnosed you right off the start?
Before I was DXed by a pdoc, as being mildly bipolar,my GP kept claiming I was clinically depressed and did the whole SSRI variety thing, sadly this happens cause when people are hypomanic and feel alright, they have no reason to seek a doc's visit, but in the depressed state we feel physically crappy which GP's tend to only see.
On the other hand people with real physical/health issues seem to be increasingly getting bushed off as "clinically depressed" while thd doc's miss the real problems or underlying factors pertaining to the patient's actual health.
It's frustrating, several friends and family members had been put at risk, having cancers and/or heart problems that were overlooked as "depression", grrrrrrrrr!!
My mother-in-law almost died and needed bypass surgery, before that she had pulmonary emboli, and in both cases leading up to it her doc would just tell her the pains in her chest were "just anxiety" and kept giving her anti-anxiety meds.
It's scary I know, but we can't discontinue seeking help, I have become more assertive and tell the docs not to tell me my health issues are due to my mental health, and I want to be treated like anyone else and properly DXed.
I know I'm ranting about this, probably due to my own health issue that I kept telling my docs for years that there was something going on and had nothing to due with my DX of depression/bipolar. The only docs I presently have faith in are my pdoc, dentist and veterinarian.
The physician's assistant at my GP is better than many MD's I've seen.
Keep the faith the best you can.
Take care now,
DE
