Gloam - it sounds like you may have Advanced Sleep Phase Syndrome (a circadian disorder). Try to push your bedtime a little back by 20 minutes a day until you reach 9pm or 10pm (or whatever time you need so you can wake up on time).
The fall weather and time change has me all mucked up too in my sleep and mood. Even the scent of the air and feel of it is noticeably different for me and depressing. I much prefer summers.
