NNR09 - I think you need to find a way to afford a psychiatrist. Not all psychiatric medications used for bipolar are expensive. There are medications that cost $4 a month and there are medications that cost $400 and more a month. If the psychiatrist knows that you are without insurance, the psychiatrist will choose from the cheap medicines. At any rate, this is until Jan 1 - less than two months from now you will have coverage. Probably it is better to just wait, but just as an FYI, not all medications are pricey.
