Maybe start a seperate thread asking what peoples experience has been with going to ER. Chances are they would transfer you to a behavioral health clinic or a county mental hospital. Minimum three days observation I believe and could be longer. It's based on whether they deem you an imminent threat to yourself or others. Some facilities are much better than others. I was in one for three weeks in San Jaoquin county CA years ago. It was very very good but it was private as I had good private insurance.
