Diazepam is Valium. It is very often used for bad alcohol detox. Its temporary. I drank very heavy for many years but detox was not bad for me and I didn't have liver or pancreas problems. My main problem was detox from meth when I got clean and sober but that is another story.
I know my old boss who I met in AA locked himself in a motel room for a week and cold turkeyed it. He said it was horrible but he got through it.
I hope you get into the hospital soon. There are other programs besides AA.
SMART, SOS, Rational Recovery are a few I have heard of but don't know anything about.
