Thanks everyone for your hugs and words of support. I'm doing a little better today. I think the shock of the suddenness of the whole thing is starting to wear off, and I'm a bit more able to actually start grieving. My in-law are having him cremated and put in an engraved box for us. I am very blessed with super supportive friends and family who have been calling and texting all day. I'm just glad people are taking this loss seriously and not just telling me to get over it because Foster was just a dog. To me, he was as much a part of my family as anyone else.
@CANDC. You're right about waiting. My husband and I talked about that today. We both want another dog eventually, but it will be a while before we're ready.
