Talking about what bothers you with a GOOD therapist does work wonders, so this appointment does have the potential of making you feel better. But, only if the therapist is good and if you click with the therapist.

Make the tables turn - think of this appointment as an interview that you would be conducting to see if this therapist is a good fit for you. Ask for the therapist's take on your problems, for the therapist's experience in helping women in similar situations, ask for the general treatment approach of this therapist, etc.

You know, be in the driver's seat, however corny it might sound.
