In Canada it would be too. It would be considered discriminatory.
Also we have something called constructive dismissal, and this would qualify.

We also have the Trades Act, where if you are put in a job that you are not trained for, your employer must provide training or give you your old job back

Can you call your local labour board and see if there is a statute that this falls under?
