I feel for you, being newly diagnosed. You probably have many more questions than answers at this point. Just remember, you had bipolar before you were given the diagnosis---it just took a while to manifest itself to the point where it was recognized as such. Postpartum depression is often a catalyst for the development of bipolar---it happened to me too, though I wasn't diagnosed BP until many years after I had my last child (I had postpartum psychosis with him).
I'm sorry you're going through so much at home. Stress is also a trigger for bipolar mood swings. Try to find a psychiatrist and/or therapist who can teach you ways to cope; it's worth the money. Meds are also helpful, but sometimes it takes months or even longer to find the right combination.
