With these sorts of things it's mostly willpower - you've got to be very mentally strong and it's not that people are incapable of that, it's just that it's exhausting to maintain.
What i'm doing is eating mildly unhealthy food but not a lot of it and then just exercising a lot. To me it seems the best compromise - i'm not eating garbage but i'm not having to wolf down foliage most of the time either. And exercise is always a plus regardless of your fitness levels etc. It's also having results. I'm losing the weight slowly and having time to adjust both mentally and physically to a new body.
Just find what works for you. We all have different ways of losing weight - so long as it's not too unhealthy/results focused that's as much as we can ask for i think.
