Are you saying that if I prefer to not have them, then I am not a part of this community? Does it make me a lesser human being in PsychCentral's eyes????
Seems to me, that given the fact that people have the option to choose a mood, a location and an avatar, then the other things should be equally easy to make "user-selectable"

If it's any consolation to you, I agree with you. It reminds me of how I wasn't the popular kid in school, and now not the popular one here. (Not a lot of hugs received, not a lot of posts for 6 years on this site, etc.) Everything seems to be based on number of posts. The more you post, the faster you move "up the ranks" and get a new title.
I don't like titles in general, esp. in the corporate world. Someone who is a "manager" may do less than someone who is a "mere assistant". And cause I have very limited access to the Internet, I post very little each week. It took me 6 years to get to 2,000 posts to finally change that title.
People who have been here just 2 or 3 months but have fewer posts than me (like 1,312 as an example) are "Superposters" cause they posted a LOT in a short period of time. So, it's based on number of posts within certain time frames as well. And people need to have a minimum number of posts to join Social Groups too. I think it's 6 or 10, something small.

I'm working toward 2,000 comments so that I can remove it.

Gotta get crackin' Manx! LOL I thought "Poobah" sounded pretentious too, but it's supposed to be a compliment, according to the dictionary. My title automatically changed to "Magnate" at 2, 000 posts, which sounds better, LOL. FYI, you can also reset to the PC default title, if you want to go back to it for some reason.
Hurry up so you can be "Hello Kitty."
