If you are bi polar II then yes it could still be effective.
What to watch for is symptoms of hypo mania or mania if you are bi polar II. Prozac can trigger it. It's ok to get hypo mania just watch out for extreme symptoms or behavior out of character that could cause problems.
The most common side effect with SSRI's is the sexual ones.
Other than that you have to take it for 6 to 8 weeks and see how it goes. Everyone is very different in how we metabolize them, what side effects we get, and how effective it is. You can't really go by others experience. It's really a try and see process.
