When I was in the hospital one of the doctors told me that with chronic mental illness it's best to get it treated. She said that without treatment the mental illness really messes with the brain and that it's best to stay on my meds. So, I pretty much assume that I'll be on the meds for the rest of my life or at least for a long time.
