If you suspect infection, seek out professional help anyway as they would be best placed to know what to do. Can you maybe ask your family practitioner over the phone? They may think it's better for you to come and see them but if you can accurately describe the situation over the phone they should at least be able to assess the current level of risk and what should be done more immediately.
