This is going to be gross ......**** WARNING ***
but if you are coughing up or snotting green or greenish/yellow, you need an antibiotic as it is bacterial and can help at the doctor with an antibiotic; if you are coughing up white or clear or yellow, it is viral, and will have to wait it out with OTCs. If it lingers longer than 1.5-2 weeks, see a doc to make sure it has not turned to pneumonia if it has moved into your chest so they can treat it appropriately. Also, if you have trouble breathing, no matter what you are coughing up, see someone as they can give you something to help with that too. I am in the same boat right now and this is what the doc told me. Hope you feel better soon. ((((LL))))) from a far, don't want to give it back to you if you are better
