yes here in NY its called grieving when a person feels a sense of loss. it doesnt matter what was lost. every human being grieves for lost items, pets loved ones and even memories of things that happened in the past. I know someone who felt this deep sense of loss over their favorite tv actor, some one who had this deep sense of loss over a piece of jewelry, I know a guy who was looking at pictures of when he was a child and burst into tears over the loss of days gone by that he cant reclaim now...

human beings have many different things that cause them to feel a deep sense of loss/grieve for things in their lives past and present. its perfectly normal thing for humans to do. some even make up or hold ceremonies or party/ .... around their losses as a way to celebrate that loss and help them to achieve a sense of closure and moving on from that deep sense of loss.
