I was in a group home, it was for people with any type of neurological or psychological condition, not only ASD. This was called Transitional Housing, it was designed to help people under 25 learn life skills. But be careful. I was also in another group home for 6 months, and it was terrible. The staff consisted of high school drop outs who mistreated the residents. They also knew nothing about Autism, I tried explaining it to one and she did not comprehend it.
As for pets, none of the group homes here allow them unless they're service animals, for sanitation reasons and because licensing forbids. it
Get a caseworker too, so they can make sure that you go to a good place. Your doctor would know how you can get one
