I took haldol because the pdoc thought it might loosen suicidal ideation as I was very rigid in my suicidalness (possibly because I also have Asperger's?) I took 0.5 mg initially, I don't remember if we upped the dose to 1 mg or we just discussed doing it, and didn't have any side effects. I didn't take it long - maybe six weeks at most - because it didn't work at all. But then again, so far nothing has worked to make me less suicidal so far. (I don't think that sentence flows right but I can't figure out how to make it flow better, sorry.)

By the way - I am very side effect sensitive, so that even I didn't have side effects can only mean good things.
