When the hospital where I was working at was being sued I had to go talk to the hospital's attorneys to discuss what I knew about the case. I was the primary nurse for the patient who died and the attorney was going over my notes and said did you write this?, did you write this? Yes, yes I wrote both. The attorney said but the penmanship is markedly different from this note to another note that I had written. I had to explain that when the patient was stable I had the luxury of writing slower and when the patient was circling the drain I wrote more quickly trying to keep up with the changes. Apparently none of the other nurses writing changes as much as mine.

Another time my own bank refused to cash a check I wrote because my signature didn't match the signature on record. So I had to explain - different mood, different signature.
