I got a call today at 3 p.m. at school from a neighbor who had both my dogs, the Samoyed and new Golden puppy.
I got them both in my car on the way home, and then did a walk-around my fence. Thanks to the newfound skills of the Golden, they have discovered digging out under the privacy fence...The Samoyed never did this before, and I've had her for 8 years.
In problem-solving mode, my first solution was to hire my handyman to buy and install cinder blocks (very unattractive) around the perimeter of the fencing, but now have decided I can purchase and install the electric shock wire myself. The farm supply store sells 500 feet of it for $159...an expense I can ill afford right now, but if it teaches the dogs to stay away from digging out, it will be worth it.
Any other suggestions will be welcome!
