Where are you teaching him to drive? When i learned to drive, they had a special driving area, a big lot, where you practice each driving skill, like turning, parking, backing up, etc. Can you find an empty parking lot where he could practice turning, etc, until he does it more smoothly? Also tell him he needs to pretend that you are the driving TESTER giving him instructions, so when the time comes, he automatically responds appropriately - his calm reactions will be connected to his driving skills. Otherwise he will pout in front of the tester and may fail for attitude.
