My niece has this chronic disease too. When she gets a regular illness it makes it hard to manage the chronic disease (spikes and lows) so medication needs to be adjusted... It's probably more of a need to deal with it now issue then a really long term dangerous situation...

Just think about your sons issue...sometimes it's bad but trip to urgent care for a nebulizer treatment and it's a big improvement...immediate care needed but easily resolved...

Does it help to think of it like that? Easier to sit with the concern?
