Hypothyroidism can for sure cause depression. I hope he also prescribed you synthroid and is going to get your thyroid levels worked out.

Plus what you have been through. I have no idea why he would prescribe such an old antidepressant unless he feels it is a one month temporary thing. The new ones can take that long to start working.

It says below that imipramine can take two weeks to start working. It's really up to you whether to take it or not. The very most important thing would be getting your thyroid level right.

Klonopin .5mg twice a day, cutting this back
