Congratulations......sounds like a wonderful opportunity.
An aside, but about your migraines.....I have migraines that never go away & normal migraine medication doesn't even phase them. Only thing that gave me 100% pain relief was a very high dose of pain medication which really didn't effect my functioning....but it allowed me to function normally. I would still get the symptoms of the migraine (light flashes, smells making me sick & would actually trigger the migraine pain to break through until I could get into a hot shower & then a quick nap & I was back going again.....however when my pain specialist closed his practice, that high dose of pain medication ended also......not another pain specialist was willing to help until I came upon this older pain specialist.
He was still determined the dose needed to be lowered for my own safety (shoot I'd been on it for over 10 years & not addicted but withdrawal always comes with that medication)......anyway.....he remembered an old treatment for migraines that usually always broke the pain & decided that he would use that & then we would try very slowly to lower the dose. So far I have been able to lower the dose by 1/2 of what I had been on. Each time I lower it, the migraine does hit but with the treatment once a month & about 2 months on the lower dose, the migraines seem to be controlled.
This treatment is strange.....but I asked whether it was new or old & they said that it was an old time treatment that had been forgotten for those people who don't have any success with normal migraine medication. They take lidocane gel & put it on long q-tips & stick it into my nose as far as it can go. Those nerve endings at the back of the nose go directly to where the migraine pain is & it also helps with the pain that happens in my eyes with my migraines....were even blinking hurts my eyes.....it was so amazing.....I've been going to him since April & the success is goes all around the clinic & everyone comes in asking me about it & how it's working. I was shocked that something that simple would have such a wonderful effect on my migraines....I have been dealing with them since 1995 & this is the first treatment I have ever had that had any effect on them other than just covering up the pain.
Just a thought if you can find a MD who might be able to treat you if you get to that really bad place where you can't work any longer.....or even a once a month treatment might keep you from having those kinds of migraine attacks.....just thought I would share since you were commenting that you needed extra days off of work because of your migraines at times
