My late mom had very slow, forced, barely intelligible speech when she was depressed. When she was not depressed, she spoke eloquently and was a college professor.

However I think that the speech was the way it was because she took old tricylcical AD's, in large doses. I do not know fore sure. if it was due to the underlying depression or AD's or a combination thereof.
