It is said by some that it takes a good year to start to get over a breakup . . . a year of going through the four seasons and all the holidays as no longer part of the couple that you once were. Expect to feel sad for a while. But that doesn't mean you will never feel better. Grief runs its course.
You say he is "no longer the person I once knew." That person probably never really existed. You have come to know him for real, and he's not who you once thought he was. He probably didn't change in his essence. Your understanding of him changed as you gained more experience and insight.
Anxiety about the future is totally normal. But, most likely, you will cope better than you think you will. We usually do.
It sounds like this relationship had to be terminated. Be glad you got that accomplished. That's a lot of work you've done to get this far. Thank yourself.
