My T owns her own practice, and rents a suite out of a beautiful, historic office building. Typical marble floors and a bronze statue outside of the man it's named after. It's really a beautiful building. My T employs no secretarial type staff, you simply walk into her suite and it's a fairly elegant (almost in a gawdy sort of way, but matches the building's character) waiting area. No check in! Three doors within the waiting area lead to three separate offices, people who work under her supervision (LSW, etc). Her office is the largest, of course, and is also her "therapy room." It's light and airy, and she's one to have her windows open whenever she can. She has window bird feeders, and it's very nice and comfortable inside. Although, she's a very comforting person to be around, so I think even if it looked like a slum, it would feel the same....simply because she's there.
