Has anyone taken Haldol and ADHD meds at the same time. I am right now. I have just been taken down to 8 mg of Haldol off of 9 and am on 36 mg of Concerta about to go up to 54. It seems like the ADHD meds are working minimally at best. And I think I know why. I looked up how Haldol works in the brain. It blocks dopamine receptors. I looked up how Concerta works in the brain. It releases more dopamine. It wants to get more dopamine to those receptors but can't because the Haldol is standing guard. At least this is probably an elementary explanation of it. So my meds are fighting against each other. And so are my disorders apparently. Does anyone know of an anti-psychotic that might work differently. The problem is Haldol has been a great med up until this point. Hasn't sedated me too much, which is surprising given the dose. I just don't know what to do. Any insight would be appreciated.
