There have been discussions on food sites about the possible leaching - some say maybe - some say not. I don't worry much about it. I ate the 60's and 70's food and so if stuff is going to poison me - it is already in me. Plus I was 20 or so before I ate a vegetable that had not been cooked for hours in bacon grease or with a ham hock. It did work better for me than any other method of poaching eggs and I don't do it every day of the week so for me the concern is just not there. In terms of poaching an egg like that or eating cool whip, cheese in a can, any fast food of any sort or even twizzlers - I know which one I choose as not being the health concern for me.
