What would you do for a living if you could do anything?
I got asked a variation of this today -- what would I do if I weren't working in my current field. It's bugging me, because I'm thinking and thinking about it, and I have no idea! I'm not really interested in, trained for, or skilled in anything else. At the rate my industry is changing, though, I probably won't be able to retire from anything resembling the job I do now, so it's not a bad idea to think of alternatives. But I wouldn't even know how to go about finding another field.

3 points:
1) I can't think of a DREAM job. Like, something absolutely ideal. So I know what you mean.
2) In a 'dream' job realistic to my current position, I would like to work more on the advertising side of things (and might at some point) - strategy planning etc. That is more of a sideways step for me.
3) Actually, IMO, skills are more transferable than ever in some fields these days - It seems that everyone and their dog has a 'degree' of sorts. So while in some ways this can make things more competitive, I think employers are looking for other qualities too - which means you may come from outside the 'ideal' qualification realm, but you may have other skills that place you above other candidates.
just my two cents ...
OH! I want to be a 'lady who lunches' with a super rich husband and spend my free time organising charity balls and events.

(half joking ... heh)
