How old is your son?

When my son was in kindergarten the school asked him to be evaluated by a physician. The doctor gave him ritalin and initially I was strongly opposed because I didn't want drugs to mask his personality. But he was the same kid on meds except he no longer was bouncing off walls.

I'm not saying your son should be on meds, just sharing my experience.

There is some evidence that sugar and some food dyes can make a child hyperactive but studies are inconclusive and my son was hyperactive with or without sugar/dyes.
