It's probably different, but still on the topic of objects:

I was re-reading the last email I got from my ex-T (we write each other once a year). In it she said that she had been going through her drawer looking for a paperclip when she found a pin I made her. I used to make flag pins out of safety pins and beads. It's kinda cool that she still had that little thing after 9 years.

She gave me a little beanie baby bear, an angel, and a picture of her. I still have all of them. I have no need to hold the objects, but I will never get rid of them either.

My college counselor gave rocks as transitional objects to some of her students. She called them "warm fuzzies". You hold them in your hand, think of her, and her care would warm up the rock to remind you she's with you. I still have all 4 she gave to me.
