I don't think you expectations are unrealistic. If they are not following through with their responsibilities then you need to speak up. In this world we really have to learn to self advocate and demand the service we deserve. If it is a part of your treatment plan than what the hell is their problem?
I would ask them do define exactly what they mean by "ask for help." Does that mean call the therapist, call the doctor, call a friend, post here??? I think it is very important to have a support network outside of professionals. This could include family, friends, a free community support group of some kind. I think we all need at least a couple of people in our personal lives we can tell everything too. It may not cure the depression to ask for help but it certainly helps you deal with it and get through it. We don't have to do this alone.
